Pottery in the Byzantine Period

In the Byzantine Period the fine table ware was imported from Northern Africa (Tunisia) and other parts of the Roman empire. click here for information on the decoration of local pottery in the period

Ballet (Ballet 1991: 487-489) distinguished nine main types of pottery types for the period. Some of the following vessels date to the Roman Period, but similar types are typical for the Byzantine Period.
