Wine in Ancient Egypt

The oldest attestations of seeds from a grape come from Tell Ibrahim Awad and Buto (before 3000 BC); both sites are situated in the traditional wine producing region of Egypt. Earlier still (about 3500 BC) there are numerous grape seeds from storage jars found in Abydos; it is thought that these were imported from Palestine
