Ihnasya: House A

Petrie 1904: 28: ' House A is dated by the small Alexandrian coins of Heraclius...' (seventh century AD)

Fragment of a mould-made terracotta figure in two halves and hollow; the upper section is preserved. The figure represents Herakles and is without arms thus probably intended as a bust. Herakles wears the usual beard which is divided down the centre and a high hairstyle which has layers of curls at the front of the head in the manner of Antonine or Severan hair-styles. The back is also modelled.
