Mummies from the Third Intermediate to the Roman Period were often adorned with a bead net covering the whole body. In many examples, faces, the four sons of Horus and other decorations (more often found on coffins) were executed in beads. These bead nets must have been - following the description of excavators such as Petrie - very common. However, most often only loose beads were found next to the body of the deceased. Faience objects, such as scarabs and figures of gods might be incorporated in such a bead net.
