Art in Egypt under Roman rule: sculpture
There is a wide range of sculpture from Roman Egypt. There are many examples of purely classical objects, as well illustrated by the category of terracotta figures found in Egypt. In the Petrie Museum there are few examples of sculpture in stone (notably the classical Greek and Roman favourite, marble) that are securely dated to the Roman Period. However, compare the examples dated to the Ptolemaic Period, some of which might well be Roman.
